Drayton Road
An 81 bed care home. The aim was to create a crisp, modern building that complements its surroundings and is immediately welcoming and familiar to its future residents.
Demand for care / later living accommodation far outweighs supply in most parts of the UK and it is reported that the sector will need to see the delivery of circa 140,000 beds in the next 10 years. Therefore, delivery of high quality, modern care facilities is imperative.
It is with this in mind that the client instructed Stor_ to develop a proposal that meets the regulatory requirements, remaining cognisant of and integrating where appropriate the fourteen fundamental standards of care set out by the CQC, at the same time as delivering a building and surrounding external works that offer a welcoming, safe environment which residents will be proud to call home.
This scheme does not propose to overdevelop the site, rather it proposes a complimentary and subtle installation into a long vacant gap site on one of the arterial routes into Norwich, with a design that is driven by the quality of the end product for the people that will eventually live and work within in.
